Chaberton Energy and Pivot Energy Host Groundbreaking at Project Catherine in Cooksville, MD

Rockville, MD; May 25, 2023 – On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 17th, 2023, Maryland-based solar energy developer, Chaberton Energy, and national solar provider, Pivot Energy, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Project Catherine.  The three Catherine projects will provide 750 kWdc of power to Loyola University Maryland, 177 kWdc to Saint Mary Coptic Orthodox Church, and 3.4 MWdc of community solar power.  The event was hosted onsite at Saint Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Cooksville, MD.  Project Catherine is part of a larger 21 MW solar portfolio developed by Chaberton Energy and to be operated by Pivot Energy. 

 

Attendees included members of the local community, local and state legislators, as well as Chaberton Energy and Pivot Energy’s teams and project partners.  

 

Speakers at the event included Stefano Ratti (Chaberton Energy CEO), John Stroud (Director of Origination at Pivot Energy), State Delegate Luke Clippinger, Howard County Council Chair Christiana Rigby, and Tracy Harvey (Loyola University Sustainability Program Director).  

 

All the event speakers spoke with passion and enthusiasm on the projects’ economic and environmental benefits to the local community, and the positive contribution of these projects to the growth of renewable energy in Maryland.
