We are looking for an exceptional Policy Associate Manager to join our development team. The ideal candidate would bring relevant experience in governmental / regulatory policy working on issues related to sustainability or renewable energy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain State & County level policy profiles for active & prospective markets
- Track pertinent pending legislative or regulatory changes
- Identification and involvement in local trade organizations for each market
- Provide regular updates to the Chaberton team on key legislative and regulatory proceedings
- Identification and review of potential new markets for Chaberton expansion
- Identification, research, and outreach to key legislative and regulatory contacts, including community, regional, state, and federal
- Coordination with the Chaberton team in establishing a position on key legislative and regulatory proceedings
- Coordination and relationship building with other industry participants, including associated environmental advocacy groups
- Identification and attendance of industry and local events
- Coordinate with local news media as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience or education in similar or related roles
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to summarize complex issues and convey information effectively
- Ability to connect with various stakeholders and adapt based on the audience
- Resourcefulness, curiosity, and problem-solving attitude
- Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines including sales, engineering, permitting, and project origination
- Strong work ethic / desire to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner and meet / exceed milestones
- Ability to travel routinely (>25% of the time), mostly in the mid-Atlantic, with reliable personal transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in renewable energy, solar energy, sustainability, or policy
- Experience in a policy or lobbyist role
- 2 years’ industry / policy experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple utility markets, origination staff, and land contractors
- Lead community solar plus storage policy relationships in assigned markets at the state, county, and local level
- Advocate for solar policies in key jurisdictions, developing relationship with key stakeholders, consultants, and EPC firms
- Develop strategies and market entry plans to enter into new markets
- Lead site selection activities for new solar plus storage projects, considering CA environmental regulations
- Identify suitable properties and solicit interest from landowners
- Negotiate real estate agreements with landowners
- Negotiate, analyze, draft, revise, and acquire leases and other land related contracts pertaining to surface use and real estate with landowners and their attorneys
- Research, analyze, and interpret land records and perform real estate title due diligence
- Identify adjacent project opportunities within existing markets
- Coordinate with the internal C&I team for hybrid projects and cross selling
- Work closely with broader Chaberton team to support development of existing projects
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years direct experience in site origination.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and lead real estate agreements for renewable energy projects (e.g. site leases, property purchases, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of contract origination and commercial transaction structuring.
- Knowledge of US energy markets, specifically the California energy market.
- Excellent communication, strong negotiation and organizational skills, commercial agility, with high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member; innovative mindset to operate as an important contributor within a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in energy development, renewable energy, and/or management.
- 5+ years direct development experience in the California energy market.
- 3+ years direct experience in community solar development.
- Staff and land contractor management experience.
- Working knowledge of US solar energy markets and strong network in the industry.
- Demonstrated ability to influence policy and legislation at the local, state, and federal level.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain tools to guide Chaberton on optimal PV solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) sizes given site constraints.
- Analyze PV and BESS operation data from various sources including statistical models and operational data to recommend improved design standards.
- As needed, support special projects by analyzing data sources and summarizing in presentable format. Examples include detailed energy analysis and forecasting.
- Create and maintain geolocated database of known project and utility data.
- Work with Chaberton engineering team to create high quality and optimized solar designs in a timely manner. Utilize historical cost data to optimize equipment placement.
