The Role:

We are searching for an attorney to join our Finance & Legal team. This is a high visibility market-facing transactional and operational role where you will lead various real estate, project development, and M&A transactions. It’s an exciting opportunity to interact directly with the executive team and senior management, industry-leading peers, project developers and leading renewables investors. The Director will be intimately involved in the financial and operational management of the company and its 700MW (and growing) portfolio of solar projects within and outside the US. We are not looking for just any attorney, but a business savvy professional who has a license to practice law.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience negotiating solar real estate agreements on behalf of solar developers and advising on solar project development matters and/or leading solar project M&A transactions. Such candidate will also be passionate about renewables, thrive in an entrepreneurial and nimble team environment, be able to juggle strategic initiatives and day-to-day tasks, and hungry for rapid professional growth.

 

You will work with:

Everyone on the Chaberton team. Most closely with Senake Gajamera, CFO, and Reason Abajuo, VP, Legal & Corporate Affairs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as legal lead on real estate and development matters, including negotiation, review and drafting of site control agreements, review of land surveys and title reports, and resolution of title issues
  • Act as legal lead on project M&A transactions as well as corporate-level strategic equity and credit facility transactions
  • Lead negotiation of various project development agreements, including EPC Agreements, JV Agreements, and PPAs
  • Manage outside legal counsel, as needed, to facilitate proiect development matters, project finance and M&A transactions

 

What you bring:

  • JD (or foreign equivalent) from accredited law school and current license to practice in any state in the U.S.
  • 5+ years of solar real estate / development experience or solar project M&A experience with a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably as transaction lead
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, and strategic planning skills, and an ability to digest and distill significant amounts of information and work autonomously
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a deep commitment to team up and build something special

Director, Key Accounts

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Rock Star Director, Key Accounts to join our Commercial & Industrial team. The ideal candidate would bring relevant experience and a structured, yet entrepreneurial, approach to selling solar projects in the B-to-B environment. Helping us set strategy, manage external resources and selling all Chaberton services in defined geographies/markets to large/strategic buyers.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, revise, and improve sales strategy for a given geography/market segment; differentiate key account strategy from other concurrent sales efforts.
  • Leverage cross functional leadership both within the company and with external entities to achieve sales strategy goals.
  • Effectively manage and empower relevant 3rd parties to accomplish sales cycle.
  • Analyze, develop, and implement opportunities for improvement in the sales cycle.
  • Create, implement, and refine content, scripts, and processes that support the sales strategy.
  • Capture relevant sales opportunities in assigned geographies/markets, targeting large, strategic entities capable of deploying multiple megawatts of renewable energy.
  • Assess fit for renewable energy and leverage professional networking to open the door for initial conversations.
  • Evaluate relevant information from prospect and coordinate internal tools/resources to develop and present proposals to potential customers.
  • Close sales deals at or above established goal for all Chaberton product lines in assigned geographies/markets.
  • Achieve assigned KPIs for calls, meetings, proposals and won projects.
  • Capture voice of the customer and utilize that feedback to revise and improve the C&I offering.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure a smooth post sale project handoff.
  • Oversee customer interaction records in company CRM system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable experience.
  • At least 7 years’ demonstrated success in business-to-business sales.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to summarize complex issues and convey information effectively.
  • Able to review and interpret technical documents and construction drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, curious, and proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Able to collaborate with multiple disciplines including sales, engineering, permitting, and project origination.
  • Strong work ethic / desire to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner and meet / exceed milestones.
  • Ability to travel routinely to meet prospects in person.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field and 10 years’ direct, relevant professional experience.
  • Deep knowledge of the Energy industry and how organizations can capture value from Energy Projects.
  • Examples of success selling Energy projects in the California C&I/B2B space, in particular experience with behind the meter projects in the C&I space and/or origination of Community Solar projects.
  • Experience with CRM, Google Earth, PVWatts, Helioscope, and other solar industry engineering tools.

 

Compensation considered based on experience. Ideal candidates will be located in California.

Associate Manager, Marketing Communications Specialist

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Marketing Communications Specialist will be a key support role for the organization, helping to develop and launch marketing communications materials for all channels, both traditional and digital, and aligned with the company’s goals and marketing plan. Components of the development of these materials may include writing, designing, photography, web content management, social media management, and more. The ideal candidate will have proven skills in these areas and a broad-perspective marketing communications background.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Content Marketing –

  • Assist in the creation of compelling and engaging content, including blog posts, whitepapers, videos, infographics, thought leadership, email campaigns and newsletters, events, and other mediums.
  • Ensure compliance with editorial style and branding guidelines.

 

Digital Marketing –

  • Assist in the creation of content for digital marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, and online advertising.
  • Assist with social media content development, posting, and social community engagement.
  • Work within the Chaberton.com content management system to ensure the website stays regularly updated and accurate.

 

Project Management –

  • Help move marketing communications projects forward and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of relevant projects from initial assignment to project completion, tracking updates and communications, including approval workflow, in departmental project management system.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, confidentiality, and privacy policies.
  • Maintain copy documents, graphic assets, photos, videos, photo release files, and other marketing communications assets using file storage conventions in departmental shared folders.

 

Analytics and Reporting –

  • Work with the director of marketing and communications to pull and track analytics for all marketing activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in a professional marketing communications role.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing marketing communications activities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an eye for design.
  • General understanding of digital marketing tools and analytics.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for an exceptional Project Development Manager to join our development team. The ideal candidate would bring relevant experience and a structured, yet entrepreneurial, approach to managing projects assigned in both pre-construction and construction phases for Chaberton’s growing portfolio of distributed generation solar assets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advance the development of assigned projects.
  • Conduct analysis of projects to maximize solar productivity and investment returns.
  • Coordinate and lead outside vendors including bidding, contracting, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Identify issues, conduct analysis, recommend, and implement approved solutions to ensure project delivery.
  • Audit and maintain project plans, including schedule and budget. Conduct critical path analysis. Propose and implement solutions to improve schedule outcomes.
  • Work independently, with the project team, and with outside parties such as landowners, public agencies, equipment vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Support commercial and marketing efforts for assigned projects.
  • Prepare presentations for project reviews and decision-making meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (ASSOCIATE MANAGER):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in project engineering or project management role.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to summarize complex issues and convey information effectively.
  • Able to review and interpret technical documents and construction drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, curious, and proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Able to collaborate with multiple disciplines including sales, engineering, permitting, and project origination.
  • Strong work ethic / desire to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner and meet / exceed milestones.
  • Ability to travel routinely to include site supervision (as Owner’s representative).

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (MANAGER):

  • Master’s degree in relevant field or 5 years’ direct, relevant professional experience
  • Direct construction or pre-construction Solar project management experience
  • Experience with Google Earth, GIS tools, PVSyst, PVWatts, Helioscope, and other solar industry engineering tools.
  • Experience implementing or improving project management processes.

 

Compensation considered based on experience. Ideal candidates will be located in the Mid-Atlantic.
