Job Description

With the backing of a leading sustainable energy and infrastructure investor, at Chaberton Energy we are building a company to accelerate the development of locally rooted renewable energy projects in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. We are focused on small to mid-sized solar power facilities (<10 MW) and develop projects both for our own portfolio and on behalf of third parties. Our vision for company culture is based first and foremost on stakeholder relationships rooted in trust and honesty, working as a close-knit team, and a genuine passion for pushing forward the renewable energy revolution.

We are looking for an exceptional Development Manager/Associate Manager to join our development team. The ideal candidate would bring relevant experience and a structured, yet entrepreneurial, approach to managing projects assigned in both pre-construction and construction phases for Chaberton’s growing portfolio of distributed generation solar assets in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania (expanding to other states over time).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advance the development of assigned projects.
  • Conduct analysis of projects to maximize solar productivity and investment returns
  • Manage outside vendors including bidding, contracting, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Identify issues, conduct analysis, recommend, and implement approved solutions to ensure project delivery.
  • Create and maintain project plans, including schedule and budget. Conduct critical path analysis. Propose and implement solutions to improve schedule outcomes.
  • Work independently, with the project team, and with outside parties such as landowners, public agencies, equipment vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Support commercial and marketing efforts for assigned projects.
  • Prepare presentations for project reviews and decision-making meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Associate Manager Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in project engineering or project management role.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to summarize complex issues and convey information effectively.
  • Able to review and interpret technical documents and construction drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, curious, and proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Able to collaborate with multiple disciplines including sales, engineering, permitting, and project origination.
  • Strong work ethic / desire to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner and meet / exceed milestones.
  • Ability to travel routinely to include site supervision (as Owner’s representative).

 

Manager Basic Qualifications (Associate Manager Preferred Qualifications):

Associate Manager Basic Qualifications and:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Direct construction or pre-construction Solar project management experience
  • Experience with Google Earth, GIS tools, PVSyst, PVWatts, Helioscope, and other solar industry engineering tools.
  • Experience implementing or improving project management processes.

 

Position and compensation considered based on experience. Remote locations in the mid-Atlantic region may be considered, however, strong preference for individual to be located within 4 hours of the Washington, DC or Richmond, VA metro areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Chaberton engineering team to create high quality and optimized solar designs in a timely manner.
  • Create constraints maps, site plans, and layouts (kmz, CAD).
  • Create and maintain CAD standards and templates for uniformity in portfolio.
  • Conduct preliminary solar layouts with standard industry tools such as Helioscope and assist with productivity modeling via PVSyst in collaboration with engineering.
  • Use of GIS tools to support development and engineering efforts.
  • Identify any issues related to technical design and site constraints.
  • Assist with energy storage or other analysis as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil, Map 3D, etc).
  • Civil engineering degree, GIS degree, energy degree, electrical engineering degree, or comparable work experience.
  • Able to review and interpret technical documents.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, curious, and proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and approaches to problems using advancing technology in the market.
  • Strong work ethic / desire to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner and meet / exceed milestones.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 years’ experience in solar industry with previous PV layout and planar analysis a strong plus.
  • GIS tools (ArcGIS, Google Earth, AutoCAD Map 3D, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of planar studies, cut/fill analysis, generating contours and other topographical reviews.
  • Experience with PVSyst, PVWatts, Helioscope, and other solar industry engineering tools.
  • Basic understanding of PV electrical design.
  • Understanding of energy systems.

 

Compensation considered based on experience. Remote locations may be considered, however, preference for individual to be located in the Washington (DC) metro areas or within 4-hour radius (e.g, Pittsburgh (PA), Richmond (VA)).

We are looking for a Rock Star Sales Analyst to join and support our Commercial & Industrial team. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for the renewable energy space, some relevant experience and a passion for helping organizations achieve their sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify relevant sales opportunities and develop prospect lists in assigned geographies/markets.
  • Assess fit for renewable energy and set up initial meetings for Sales Managers.
  • Assist in gathering relevant information from prospects and work with internal teams to develop proposals.
  • Achieve assigned KPIs for calls, meetings and proposals.
  • Capture voice of the customer and return that feedback to the team to refine the C&I offering.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure a smooth post sale project handoff.
  • Keep record of all customer interactions in company CRM system.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable experience.

  • 3 years’ demonstrated success in an inside business-to-business sales.
  • Deep knowledge of the Energy industry and how organizations can capture value from Energy Projects.
  • Examples of success prospecting Energy projects in the C&I space.
  • Experience with CRM, Google Earth, PVWatts, Helioscope, and other solar industry engineering tools.

 

Compensation considered based on experience. Ideal candidates will be located within commutable distance to our Rockville, MD office.
