Benefits of Leasing
Your Land for Solar

Leasing your land for solar is a low risk, high reward opportunity to generate extra income. It provides a steady, passive, and significant revenue stream throughout the life of the solar project. Beyond the financial gains, your solar farm will generate clean energy for your neighbors, help reduce electricity costs, increase energy independence, create jobs, and boost the local economy.

For farmers, a solar lease offers a chance to diversify while staying true to your agricultural roots. We establish pollinator habitats to support bees, butterflies, and birds, which even boosts the productivity of nearby farms. In some areas, we also introduce agrivoltaics, or the use of sheep and other small farm animals to graze the spaces between the panels to help maintain the land. Solar and agriculture thriving together!

At the end of the solar lease, our projects are thoughtfully decommissioned, and the land will be ready to return to its previous use.

How Community Solar Works

Community solar turns your acreage into a distributed generation facility, supplying clean electricity to the grid. First, we build the solar farm on your land. Then, nearby residents and businesses, who canโ€™t install solar panels themselves, can subscribe to community solar. This allows community members who otherwise wouldnโ€™t be able to access solar to enjoy clean energy and lower electricity bills, contributing to a healthier planet while helping local residents save money.

Our Turnkey Process for Solar Farm Development

Beginning a solar farm project with Chaberton Energy is straightforward, and we try to make it as easy on the landowner as possible. After the land lease agreement is signed, we take care of the details.  Our team conducts thorough site studies and prepares permit applications. We collaborate with the utility company to ensure a seamless interconnection process. We also engage the local community, addressing concerns and clarifying what community solar entails.

With the groundwork laid, we design a solar array customized for your land. As we gear up for construction, we finalize permits and approvals. The next phase is the construction of the solar farm. Once completed, the farm is energized and starts producing clean, renewable energy. Throughout the process we may ask for your help supporting the project through the local approval process, then once approved, youโ€™ll collect the lease revenue and take pride in the energy savings shared with your community!
