Land Usage: None! This project is sited on water

Project Fuji marks an innovative leap as Chabertonโ€™s first floating solar, or flotovoltaic, installation. Located on an active sand mining site, Project Fuji will be deployed in two phases. The first phase is a 1 MWdc behind-the-meter (BTM) system, designed to meet the on-site energy needs of the production operations. The second phase is a 4 MWdc community solar project, allowing nearby residents and businesses to benefit from the energy generated via a solar energy credit program. The flotovoltaic technology, with solar arrays installed on the surface of a man-made lake on the property, makes efficient use of otherwise idle water resources, minimizing land impact while generating sustainable energy. The project is expected to significantly reduce CO2 emissions while maximizing energy production in a dense, industrial setting.
